Rhonda is now seasonally operational, located near the Pine Mountain ridgeline.  She can be regarded as one of the great all time resources enabling our local pilots to be more effective in their choices.

Perry Judd, who installed the station at Plowshares, is building another based in part on Rhonda for the SLO area.

The Plowshares weather station is somewhat officially recognized because it shows up as a resource on the government weather sites

Robb Milley has taken on the task of cobbling together a first article remote weather station that can be accessed via the internet and telephone.  Once the bugs are worked out, Robb's design may be deployable at a number of locations in close proximity to launch sites.  If his endeavor is successful, it will obviously improve our decision making, reduce global warming, save a hundred thousand dollars a year in opportunity cost, and perhaps salvage a marriage or two.

Rhonda will have a weather station, a solar power system, and a packet radio system, located so as to provide information that will allow me to understand launch conditions with out being there.  Data will be broadcast from Rhonda to the digipeater on South Mountain and relayed from there to the Internet.  There may also be a digipeater on the SB range that could also be reached.
