Launched and went more or less straight up to 6200. Lots of nice warm fuzzy lift over Chief. Started the glide for Nordhoff at the same time as Mike but was further up the spine and paid the price. Uber-sink in the canyon but a decent tailwind. Hit Stooges with more than enough to make it to Nordhoff but cought a thermal and cranked a few turns. Topped out and kept going west. That's where the fun ended. With very little speedbar i took a full frontal that more resembled a full stall than any frontal ive ever taken. Wing wadded up at about 60 degrees behind me but came back quickly. Damped the surge and kept going but it shook me up a bit. Hit Nordhoff and cranked it up over the top but found a southwest wind that insisted on pushing me over the back. Rather than screw around for another few hundred feet I headed after Mike who was already outbound for NHS. He left with more than I and seemed to avoid the nasty headwind and sink. Had to put down in the field above rancho road.

The irony of all this was that just before launch I had tossed in another 3lbs of ballast. It didnt handle well since my center of gravity was below my padding. Shoulda left the rock in favor of being able to seat steer.
