As noted by Bruce I had problems over Stooges. On the way from Chief to Stooges I seemed to be stuck in a 10mph headwind and 500-700fpm sink and it didn't end. I arrived at Stooges to find decent thermals on the west side but the interval between them left alot to be desired. I wasn't gaining enough in each thermal to keep myself out of the bushes so I headed out for the windmill field. Big mistake. The thermals were generating their own surface winds and so I was faced with a headwind no matter which direction I went. I did find some small action over the foothills but it didn't last. My glide to the windmill field was going to be really close but I had no other choices of LZs. If i was going to bail into an orange grove I might as well make it one close to where I was hoping to get.......I cleared the fence at the north end of the field by 3 feet.

Entertaining flight, very active air, but not the kind of day where you come down grinning like a fool.

Oh yeah...If you think you can fend off the cold in your fingers by thinking warm happy thoughts, youre wrong. They ACTUALLY froze together and I could bang them against the risers without feeling a thing. I'd have given up my reserve for a pair of gloves by mid flight.
