Many hang gliders and paragliders and other unemployed types took advantage of the biggest shopping day of the year to get away from all the shoppers and take to the local mountains for a very rewarding day of soaring. About thirty different aircraft rode the thermals above the R&R, Tunnel T, and the Antenna Farm. There was good lift in some unusual places today as well.

I was lucky to launch first and after reaching 500 over Skyport I transitioned to the R&R and got to near the peak at 3,900 before cruising back downwind to the Thermal Factory to see what was happening there. Not much. Out front, the lift was decent at the Rock and in the canyon east of there as the west wind drew the thermals in easterly profiles.

Many of us went up for a second spin. Sharon, Zvi and Dan all outsoared me in their Advance wings. We stayed up for an hour before taking the easy glide to Parma. It was a pleasant surprise in fairly gentle pre-frontal conditions.
