Tom, I got inspired by your post this morning! (re: flying on a normal work day) =)

I've been ill for weeks and have turned down parties, sailing and my wing has been sitting unmoved on the floor in my office--gathering dust? I couldn't sit still today, so I ran off to the training hill around noon. I wondered if I still remembered how to fly: and indeed I felt P2 klutzy with my kiting and launching.

It was mildly thermic, but I managed(my first time) to get nearly to the LZ with my body ~30' off the deck, hooked a thermal(that low??) and worked it over launch height--needless to say extending my flight several more minutes... >=) I felt like one of the "Big Boys"!

Tried the office again, but saw the wind on the trees and left again by 330pm. Went off to Wilcox where Glen Chantler was cruising about 150' over. I got there just as the wind was pulsing in again and Glen and Andy kite-duked it out to launch first.. Andy won but went to the beach. John flew after much taunting(had gone to the beach or side-hill landed 3 times that afternoon). He was having a nice flight, but the others were not unpacking their wings just yet. I personally had the most obsurd launch I have ever witnessed! Made up for it as my glory came as I parked for 10 minutes or so, over the tall dead Euc. up to 400' over--watching everyone scramble for their wings and launching... A few passes were made then it got really west. Tom Biedler flew for a while with the next cycle and had a good flight.

Ok, so this is small potatoes. Sure beats sitting in the office and not flying for weeks!
