Chris was a bit miffed that he encountered lower level wind from the west in the valley. I think it’s common knowledge among the seasoned Ojai pilots that regardless of what the wind is doing at altitude, you will usually encounter lower level wind from the west in the Ojai Valley, and the wind will be stronger the closer you get toward town.

I would hope that I’m not the only one capable of giving feedback to the rookies. Without structured supervision, the rookies need assistance and feedback from the veterans.
