Bummer that you couldn't fly the Big W. On a lesser scale, I've always wanted to climb/fly Mt. Baden Powell along the Angles Crest. Park at 6K', summit in a few hours at 9.3K'. Beautiful NE facing bowl faces the winter sun and tends to have light upslope during the morning. The bowl extends way below the parking level and the top 2k' is a near-cliff but nice room to launch. I think an early fall or late winter day would be best (before the snows and strong winter winds).

It would be <2hr drive from Ventura.

I've climbed it with all my PG gear and mountaineering equipment (ice axe and crampons) in the winter. I purposefully chose a day with strong winds so I could scout the site one time without any self-induced pressure to actually fly it.
