For the 25th a couple of us are trying to put together an open distance XC contest. But, rather than pick a site now and then hope for conducive weather, a site is going to be chosen the night of the 24th based on the forecast for the contest day. Once a decision is made we will post it on the various So Cal web sites, including meet times and places. One of the main purposes of the contest is to try and set a new site record; because of that, if it looks like the conditions will only be marginal at best then the contest will be canceled. Also, since we are looking for a site that will have the most potential based on the predicted weather, be prepared to drive.

The contest will be open to both PGs and HGs (FW, RW). Scoring will be similar to the system used in the Michael Champlin World XC Challenge where points are determined by how far a pilot flies in relation to that particular site's record for the type of wing that they are flying (PG pilots score themselves against PG records, FW pilots score themselves against FW records, etc).

If you think that you might be interested in participating please email me directly at brettonwoods@msn.com. Other than that, please look for our announcement on Friday the 24th after the evening soundings are posted at 8:30 pm.

John
