Friday the winds were from 17 to 25 when we arrived at launch. We managed to launch all five pilots. Bill B, Brendon, Christie, Tom P and myself were all concerned about our penetration into the strong SSW wind. Bill was first and after some slow going on his new E-3 he decided to make a stop at his house just below Twin Peaks for tea. Tom P launched his new Carbon, not a good day to be light on an unfamiliar wing, and decided to head out to an LZ. Christie was next and had the longest flight of the day on her new E-3. Brendon and I followed. Brendon and Christie were playing in the ridge lift at launch, but after just a few turns I decided to head out front and consider landing options. Bill radioed me the location of his home LZ, which was an easy bail out, but I thought I could make San Antonio School. I was almost right. My glide looked fine with a margin until just before the phone lines on Grand where I hit a huge sinkhole. There was rotor coming off the building at the corner of the field and I was lucky to have a decent landing in the Orange Orchard ten feet shy of the school. Bill helped ma get the wing out of the tree. Christie and Tom had exciting landings as well.

Saturday was better, flew for an hour and a half but never got enough altitude to go anywhere but out front.

Sunday was better still but I had time constraints and had to land after an hour. The thermals were slightly stronger and more organized, but I still spent a lot of time too close to the ground.
