We almost didn't fly, Debby was reporting warm temps and the baloon data looked terrible.
Launched at about 1140 just after Spin D, we shared the house thermal for a while, but never got more than a couple of hundred over. There was a cieling, and when I followed Ron to the TF we found the same thing.
Ron did some finesse flying and climbed up well above me after a short time. At one point he stepped up to the next ridge and got to about 3300, but the cieling was still there. Meanwhile Bob H was between the AF and TF working some marginal lift.
After a wrong turn I had to cross the power lines. I tried the thermal BH had been working but it wasn't going to get me high enough to get back to the TF so I headed over to the AF where Bob was now trying to find a good core.
Walter (Bob's friend fr SA) launched and got up at the house, but found only sink on the glide to the RH. For a while it seemed he might do a trail landing, but he got some extenders and made it to Parma.
There were thermals working at the AF but they were weak and wouldn't take us very much above the ridge. BH and I landed at Parma and watched RF fly for another 20 minutes at the TF.
