Bill B., Tom Pipkin, and myself were the first at skyport today. Bill launched first and he went to the AF after a little stay above launch. I launched next and the cycle was very good. Seconds after I launched a hangie launched and the two of us skied out at launch. I ventured west to the R/R for the first time for me but 4200' was as much as I could find there. I decided to go to the TF with Bill as he had transitioned from the AF. Meanwhile Tom was scraping at launch. Later he said the snakepit was looking very likely for a brief moment.

About this time Bill and I shared the same thermals and space for some time at the TF. I could hear Bill hooting in the air. You see it has been a while since Bill has been in the air, ya got to give him a little more understanding about this excess exuberance.

After searching for a meaningful thermal Bill told me his vision was beginning to fog over. I reminded him it was called cloud base. I think he felt better. By that time the two of us were approaching 4300' and I said to Bill "Let's take it to the Beach." At that suggestion Bill and I cleared the fog that had been forming around our eyes, and sat back and let the North wind push us to the beach. It was a great day looking over the city. I had a little more than a 1000' when I arrived at the beach and touched down first showing Mr. Bailey the way.

Not too much later Tom, who had been hanging onto the edge by the AF, found something and came in really high over the beach being followed by Bob H. Hence the title "Beach times Four".

While Bill and I were waiting and folding our wings guess who pulled up directly in front of us? The local PD. Bill and I were thinking how we were going to blame Tom Truax for everything. We figured we were "buggered". As it turned out they were curious on lookers who wanted to know everything about the sport. They hung around till Tom and Bob landed and then gave us their business card and asked us to forward it to someone who would be willing to give them a tandem ride.

Thanks to Chris, Bill's wife for picking us up. What a beautiful day.
