So, is the Big Sur trip on this year? I heard the road to launch was closed. Is it true or only a rumor?

Big Sur is reopening this Friday. Nearly all closed areas in Big Sur due to fire will reopen this Friday. This includes the Prewitt Ridge road that we use to fly from. Remaining closed is Econdito Camp, and Pine Ridge Trail which do not effect us...so start making your Big Sur plans for May 8 - May 9.
